In 1997 the Tire Rack began collecting consumer survey reports on tires.  The survey rates tires from 10 - zero in categories such as traction, steering responsiveness, noise level, ride comfort, cornering stability, tread wear and hydroplaning resistance.  There is also a section to write a review of the tires. Consumers are asked if they would purchase the tires again. By reading these tire surveys, you can find out why consumers like or disliked a certain model or brand of tire.
